DipJar: A New Tool for Fundraising
While attending the Best Friends National Convention, I met Melissa Smith of DipJar and discovered a new tool to help rescues, shelters, and non-profits called DipJar.
DipJar is very similar to a tip jar in that individuals can make an additional contribution to your organization but with credit card. The stand alone unit serves as a focal point at your checkout counter or with your displays to promote financial support. What is great is you are able to set the amount for donation. Right now, Binky and Bell is using DipJar at our many pop-up events to gain extra support for whichever rescue or shelter we are supporting that particular day. Our DipJar is set for $10 for each swipe made by our customers.
So far the results have been positive. When folks come up and check out our art and ask about our story, we explain that we donate our profits to rescues and shelters with any extra donations going to that day’s rescue/shelter. I then point out the DipJar and explain how we use DipJar to get more donations for the rescue/shelter. Since July, we have taken in an extra $400 in donations and sent these on to our philanthropies as a result.
Below is an interview I did with Melissa Smith and posted on YouTube with more information.
